Pay Per Post
Over the next few months you might notice a new category to some posts. The category is Pay Per Post and essentially, it seems like a pretty good idea. More about this…after the jump.
Essentially, all of the websites, products and services I've told you all about over the past several months have been free advertising. I link to something, they benefit and you find out about something new. That's great, and that won't change. Normally, I've found these gems on places like digg.com or through RSS feeds from Boing Boing or what have you. Now though I'll add a new source to the mix: PayPerPost.com.
As a PPP blogger, I am shown a variety of sites and services that people want to promote. I see if there is anything I'm interested in and (more importantly anything YOU might be interested in) and write a blog post about it. Then, as the name suggests, they pay me a promotional fee.
Some in the bloggisphere are up in arms about this concept. It ruins the neutrality of the medium. I've got news for you, there is nothing neutral about this or any other blog. Or newspaper for that matter. Nothing will change the way I write, I'm not going to take links that I don't find genuinely interesting and probably would have blagged about anyway. Also, every PPP post will be categorized as such, so if you REALLY feel that my journalistic integrity is swayed, you can ignore those posts.
At any rate, I haven't accepted any PPP links yet, but we've been accepted into the network so look for them soon. I've already found a few that are interesting…
