If the shoe fits… you don’t have to worry about the typography
…but there's a good chance the color needs to be tweaked a bit. And it might look better if you nudged it a few pixels off center.
23 Signs That You're Becoming a Design Geek from Crestock.com Blog
I've been accused of getting a little over zealous about design elements, I admit. And realistically, I understand that most people on the planet don't even know what leading and kerning are, much less care about them. So when I found the linked article about signs you're becoming a design geek, I alternately laughed and grimaced. Examples?
#4 Seeing someone use Lens Flare or Comic Sans adversely affects your blood-pressure

#10 You know Lorem Ipsum by heart.
Well, most of it… Let's see… "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur, adipisci velit…" That's about as much as I know. Truth be told, I use the Greeking Machine at Duck Island most of the time now, and they only start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet"…. Umm you have no idea what I'm on about, do you? Alright… the full story on "Lorem Ipsum" at wikipedia.
#13 Activating your entire font collection makes your computer crash – and you're running OSX
HA! I'm not running OSX… though I often wish I was for design work. And I've only got about 600 fonts installed. Ok. That's a lot.
#16 You spend $200 on a font for your personal website because "it's the only one where the lower-case g is just right…"
If I had the money. I have been tempted to buy a font creation package to "fix" some of the glyphs in a couple of well known fonts. (*cough* Times New Roman *cough*)
#17 You use words about fonts you dislike that other normal people reserve for fascist dictators and serial killers.
Ummm… no comment. (But see the article on New Fonts For Vista. -ed.)
#20 Apple+Z is the first thing that goes through your mind if you drop and break something.
Thats ctrl-z for you Windows folks, and yeah, I've done that.
#23 You actually understand this post and pass it on to your friends.
I'm blogging it… does that count?
