Three things I’ve done to make XP bearable
So I’ve been using Windows XP since forever (or since it first came out, which in computer time is roughly the same) and I’ve recently done a few things to soup it up some. (more…)

The more observant of you will have noticed a new tab in the site menu of late. the Caffeinated at BrianAndPamela is the latest addition to the site. At the most basic level, it's web forums for y'all to interact with us and with one another. What else can it be? Well, it could be a brooch or a hat or a pterodactyl… sorry, I was channeling Airplane. It can be what ever your little heart desires. Just a place to chit chat, ask us questions, and contribute your two cents. You will need to register to post… sorry about that, but as an incentive there are special members only topic areas available! (There are also private areas for friends and family, so if you register with a weird screen name that I won't recognize, make sure you tell us who you are.)
Yes, yes. I’m to be congratulated and celebrated. Look at me, I managed to avoid becoming compost for another year. Quite an accomplishment if I do say so. So raise a glass (of geritol) and join me:
May the best ye’ve ever seen
Be the worst ye’ll ever see
May a moose ne’er leave yer girnal
Wi’ a tear drap in his e’e
May ye aye keep hale an’ he’rty
Till ye’re auld eneuch tae dee
May ye aye be jist as happy
As I wish ye aye tae be
There are tons of Online Deal aggregator. I'm going to tell you about another one… And yeah, it's got a weird name: Wubee.com.

Link to YouTube - Ocean's 13 Trailer.
June 8, 2007… Clooney's back. So are Pitt, Damon, Cheadle, etc… etc… Look, if I named them all I'd have carpal tunnel by the time I got to the end… either way, Ocean's Thirteen is scheduled for release this June. Watch the trailer after the jump. (more…)
Yes, I'm that much of a geek… pausing amidst the children opening gifts and the other traditions of the day to blog our best wishes and blessings for you and yours. Merry Christmas, and a very happy New Year.
I'll go back to being cynical later today (and boy am I working on a doozy) but right now, I'm adequately sedated by the armo of little smokies and crescent rolls.
Link to Snowstorm on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
If only… Anyway, the above link is a flickr photo of Denver's International airport buried under 2 and a half feet of snow earlier this week. The visual's pretty impressive, but I bet the tens of thousands of travelers who had to deal with the initial or cascading snarls don't really care how cool it looks.
Meanwhile it's going to be 45 and raining here in Fred's-burg. Bah…
Link to Why you can't get iPods at a discount. - By Sean Cooper - Slate Magazine
Ever wonder why the prices for some things vary so wildly from store to store, even from week to week? Ever notice that iPods, in fact ALL Apple products, are the same price no matter where you go? Ever been shopping online and found an item that you had to add to your cart to find out the price? Slate's got the answer, and I'll reveal it all, just read more… (more…)
Recently, the story of the loss, rescue and recovery of the Kim Family has captured my attention, though I haven't blogged about it. Partly because I didn't know what to say. I remember watching James Kim on TechTV and occasionally seeing him or reading him on CNet, but he wasn't a big figure in my awareness. And yet, I found myself constantly checking for the latest news, hoping and praying that Kim, his wife Katie and their two kids would be found safely. Judging by the attention the story received on digg.com and all over the internet, I wasn't alone. (SFGate.com is reporting that the Kim story received 1 million page views in the 90 minutes following the announcement that Kim's body had been found, their own website was getting 3,300 page views per minute.) So the question is, why? (more…)
I'm not going to post about the launches of Vista, the PS3, or the Wii. Unless and until I have a chance to actually use said products for quite a while. Meanwhile, I keep meaning to do a quick review of Ubuntu 6.10-Edgy. Actually, I should have Pamma do a review of it, since she took the laptop with Edgy on it to her class to show web stuff. Go FLOSS!
